More ‘transitional relief’ for ACA non-compliant plans

In response to further federal postponement of the minimum benefit requirements in the ACA, some carriers have opted to allow individual and small-group customers to keep non-compliant policies.  They will be allowed to renew them until October 2016, potentially leaving these policies in place until Oct. 2017.

Dept. of Insurance officials estimated that between 100,000 and 200,000 people could be offered the relief.
Anthem and Assurant will extend individual and small-group policies.
Bluegrass Family Health, United Health Care and Humana opted to extend small-group policies.

As of the end of the Open Enrollment period in the Health Benefit Exchange, nearly 415,000 people have enrolled in the Medicaid expansion of private plans.
