KYAHU Newsletter June–WKAHU Update

KYAHU serves both “larger chapter” brokers/consultants in Louisville and Lexington, as well as “largely independent” members out in the state.  The Board of Directors hosted a webinar call earlier this week, focused on opening a dialogue with those members in more rural areas.  State President Matt Schwartz kicked off the discussion by asking what each participant wanted to gain from the call – how the State organization could help “Secure their future” – information, resources or other ways.

After a quick review of State and Local plans to collaborate efforts for greater efficiency and effectiveness, we also highlighted a few key resources available to all members – see attached summaries for more information – daily/weekly/monthly communications on timely benefits and health reform issues, monthly webinars on key compliance topics and access to definitive compliance support.  The members then shared several idea for what KYAHU could do to best serve more rural areas.  One great idea that we’ve already begun researching is a semi-regular series of web-based Continuing Education programs.

With so much change in our industry, it remains true that we are stronger together.  We appreciate the opportunity to hear directly from our members and by focusing on the collective value we receive, we’re certainly in a better position to succeed.  Thanks to Jennifer, Kathy, Richard, Walter, Chapin, Steve and Patricia for taking time to talk – we look forward to working together with you!
